Snellville, located just 18 miles outside the city of Atlanta, had a slow growth spurt until the 1960's.  Since then, Snellville's population has dramatically increased and there are over 1,150 businesses operating in the city.  Since 2011, there have been a number of upscale new housing construction projects developed in the Snellville area. Even in the midst of the recession of the early 2000's, Snellville remained the only area of metro Atlanta to continue development.  For example, Governer's Walk, an upscale and an award winning neighborhood, was completed after the recession was well underway.  To this day, Snellville has homes that reach up to the million dollar range. Snellville has become a popular relocation area for metro Atlanta locals moving from other suburban areas.
